MY STORY

From Boxing Champion to Mental Fitness Trainer — Finding Strength Beyond the Ring.

Hi, I’m Jamie, also known as The Mind Boxer.

My story has been a journey through the highs of victory, the depths of despair, and the powerful transformation that comes when you decide to fight for your mind — not just with your fists.

I grew up in London in a turbulent home. My father’s anger filled the air, while my mother’s silence left an emptiness I couldn’t quite understand. At school, I was small, skinny, and struggled to fit in. I battled ADHD, OCD, PTSD, and dyslexia — challenges that made me feel different, and often made me a target. I carried a lot of pain even as a kid, but I didn’t know how to express it.

Then, at age 12, I discovered boxing.

It gave me something I’d never had before — direction, discipline, and a sense of belonging. I poured everything into it. By 17, I won my first England title, and by 23, I was ranked number three in the country. Boxing became my identity, my escape, and my therapy — all rolled into one.

But when I walked away from the sport, I found myself facing an opponent I couldn’t punch my way past — addiction. What started as a way to cope slowly became a way to hide. That fight lasted well into my 30s, and even though I managed to keep going, inside I was still running from myself. Then came the moment that broke me. In my early 40s, my older sister — my best friend — passed away from cancer. Her loss shattered me. The grief opened every old wound I’d buried, and suddenly, I was battling crippling anxiety, depression, insomnia, and panic attacks. I reached a point where I couldn’t leave the house. The once strong, confident boxer was now trapped in his own mind — exhausted, scared, and questioning everything. But somewhere in that darkness, I made a promise to myself:

I wasn’t going to let fear win.

I began studying the mind and body with the same intensity I once brought to the boxing ring. I wanted to understand why we think, feel, and react the way we do — and how to change it. I dived into neuroscience, psychology, physiology, and the link between the brain and body. Slowly, piece by piece, I started to rebuild myself.

That journey didn’t just heal me — it transformed me.

I discovered that the same discipline and focus that made me a champion in the ring could also make me strong in my mind. I learned that true strength isn’t just physical — it’s emotional, mental, and spiritual.

Over the past decade, I’ve dedicated my life to helping others do the same.

I created a private online community to support people struggling with mental health, worked with boxing and mental health charities, and co-wrote my first book with my wife — a project born straight from the heart.

Now, I help people improve their mental fitness, understand themselves on a deeper level, and find the tools that truly work for them. My mission is to show that no matter how broken or lost you feel, you can turn your pain into power, your mess into your message, and your suffering into your service.

Because I’ve lived it.

I’ve fought those battles.

And I’m here to show you that you can win yours, too.

" The Greatest gift we can give to ourselves is to be of services to others."

My Approach:

I don’t just talk the talk — I walk the walk.

Everything I teach is grounded in what I have personally practiced, lived, and continue to use to improve and maintain my own mental and physical health. This isn’t theory alone; it’s experience, consistency, and real-world application.

My work looks beyond symptoms and focuses on the foundations that support long-term wellbeing.

What This Includes:

  • Correct breathing

  • Nutrition that supports mental and physical health

  • Exercise that actually works with your nervous system

  • Sleep hygiene

  • Neurotransmitter and hormone regulation

  • Healthy light exposure

  • Meditation and mindfulness

  • Self-knowledge and awareness

  • Talk therapy

  • Social connection

All of these play a significant role in energy production, metabolism, and mitochondrial health—areas that are often overlooked in mental health support.

In my understanding (or “minderstanding”), energy is the missing link in overall health and wellbeing.

I really enjoy my boxing sessions with Jamie. I have learned new skills, and the training makes me feel really fit and strong. I like the meditation and breathing practice at the end of the class too. It helps me focus my mind and makes me more productive. I feel like these sessions have made me less anxious and physically stronger - in a fun way. Jamie is always really nice and supportive and cares about my mental health.

I met Jamie several years ago. I was passed on his number from a mutual friend who knew I was really suffering from OCD intrusive thoughts and severe anxiety. After just 30mins with him I knew I had found someone special he knew exactly what I was going through he explained a few things to me that immediately put my mind at ease he suggested I tried breathwork and meditation which I still do now every day. Whenever I meet Jamie, he seems to have learned new things that help me I suggest everyone to read his book what Jamie knows about how the mind works is truly amazing. Brett, 46
